Clubfoot

Equine varus clubfoot, commonly called clubfoot, is characterized by an inward-turned foot. This deformity of the foot is congenital (present from birth), and can be unilateral or bilateral (affecting only one lower limb or both).

The deformation results in:

• bone malformations;
• bad positions of the bones in relation to each other;
• malformation and misorientation of the articular surfaces;
• joint stiffness caused by the shortening of muscles, tendons and ligaments.
