Clubfoot
Equine varus clubfoot, commonly called clubfoot, is characterized by an inward-turned foot. This deformity of the foot is congenital (present from birth), and can be unilateral or bilateral (affecting only one lower limb or both).
The deformation results in:
- bone malformations;
- bad positions of the bones in relation to each other;
- malformation and misorientation of the articular surfaces;
- joint stiffness caused by the shortening of muscles, tendons and ligaments.
